Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do after a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA)?

If you have recently been injured in a car accident, it is important to contact your auto insurance provider to file the report and get the claim started. Once you have done this, contact Novacare Health to make an appointment with one of our MVA treatment professionals. On your first visit, we will evaluate your function, pain, severity of injury, and prescribe the appropriate treatment program. We can help with all aspects of treatment, including filling out paper work, claim submission, imaging, and medical services as required.

*Note: Call 911 for any emergency situations including severe or life threatening injuries, and/or loss of consciousness.

What are the most common injuries in a Motor Vehicle Accident?

The majority of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident include whiplash, and other muscular strains and/or ligament sprains involving regions such as the shoulder, lower back, mid back, elbow, hip and knee.

How can these injuries be effectively and quickly treated?

Often patients sustain multiple injuries in car accidents and often experience the greatest pain during the week following the initial car accident. It is often important to take a multi-disciplinary approach using chiropractic, soft tissue therapy, acupuncture, electro-modalities, physical therapy, and massage therapy to address these multiple injuries effectively. The more serious conditions will involve careful assessment and a specific program will be prescribed to ensure optimal recovery.

How do I pay for my treatments?

Under the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, it is mandatory to exhaust your workplace health insurance prior to your auto insurance being. If you do not have extended health benefits through your workplace, or have exhausted these benefits, your auto insurance will fully cover the remainder of your treatment often for a minimum of 12 weeks. Our staff will help provide you with the necessary information to coordinate payments from your insurance providers..
